Presentation at the SIDIIEF World Congress: AI and nursing, a turning point for the future

Artificial intelligence (AI) is gradually gaining ground in the healthcare sector, but its impact is still poorly understood, particularly in the field of nursing. How can AI support caregivers? What are its advantages and limitations? These are just some of the questions that will be addressed during the International Student Day of the SIDIIEF congress, on June 2nd, 2025, in Lausanne.

AI: a tool for rethinking the role of caregivers
During this day, Matteo Caliandro, AI engineer at Swisscoding Technologies, will provide a fascinating insight into the role of AI in the hospital sector. The presentation will address a major issue: the link between nursing care, medical coding and the hospital business model.

Today, hospital invoicing is largely based on a pricing system called SwissDRG, which classifies hospital stays according to diagnoses and care received. This complex and little-known system is nevertheless essential, as it directly influences the financial resources of hospitals and, by extension, the working conditions of caregivers.
But then, what role do nurses play in this process? How does their daily work contribute to the financial management of a healthcare institution? And above all, how can AI facilitate these tasks and reduce the administrative burden on medical and healthcare teams?

Understanding AI to better tame it
One of the major concerns of healthcare professionals is the growing role of AI in their work. Faced with rapidly evolving technology, many questions arise:
* Is AI a threat or an opportunity for caregivers?
* Can it really lighten the administrative burden without dehumanizing care?
* How does it actually work in a hospital?

The presentation by Swisscoding Technologies will focus on demystifying AI by explaining how it works and presenting concrete cases of its use in hospitals. The objective? To give nursing students the keys to understanding this technology and better anticipate the transformations of their future profession.

An enriching and interactive program
On the agenda:
– Understanding the impact of caregivers on the hospital business model
– Discovering how AI assists not only doctors, but also nurses
– Exploring the future of new technologies in nursing care

The presentation is intended to be interactive and educational: In addition to theoretical explanations, it will highlight the opportunities offered by AI to improve the organization of care, while guaranteeing human and personalized patient follow-up.

An event not to be missed
Location: Institut et Haute École de la Santé La Source, Beaulieu – Lausanne
Date: June 2nd, 2025 | 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This day, designed by and for nursing students, is part of an innovative approach: making AI a tool for caregivers, not a constraint.
